Bulk filename planner

Only the preview and CSV plan from the original name to the new name are generated locally in the browser, without uploading, modifying the disk, or generating execution commands.
Both sources can be merged, with selected files listed first; up to 5000 names, with a maximum of 1000 characters for each pasted name.
Supports {name}, {ext}, {n}, {date}; {{ and }} output ordinary braces. When the extension is empty, the dot immediately before {ext} is omitted.
Please select the file or paste the name and generate a preview.
Instructions

Select a file or paste the base file name, set the template, replacements, numbering and date to generate a preview. Modify the rules until the blocking items are clear, and then export the plan for manual review.

The file content will not be read or uploaded, and the page will only use the file name and modification time provided by the browser. Exporting the plan does not mean that the renaming is complete.

Methods and limitations

Primary name transformation does not overwrite extensions. Hidden files and compound extensions are split according to explicit rules; cross-platform mode checks for Windows reserved names, illegal characters, trailing dots or spaces, byte and UTF-16 lengths, and case conflicts within plans.

The rules may be different for different file systems. This page uses conservative checks and does not replace final verification of the target disk or application.

Bulk filename planner

The default template keeps the extension and adds a three-digit number. Any rule changes will invalidate old previews and need to be regenerated; this page will not rename the actual files.
